The Manohari Pooranampillai Cancer Institution and Research Centre is established to meet the growing demand for healthcare in the southern coastal region of Tamil Nadu, aligning with the "Transforming Lives" motto.

The existing Government Thoothukudi Medical College (GTMC) already serves an average of 2,300 out-patients and 1,300 in-patients daily. With serious physician shortfalls projected—statewide supply estimated at 55% less than demand by 2030—our centre bridges the critical gap in tertiary care and medical education.
